Eleven Turbo v2.5
ElevenLabs · USA / Poland · 2024
The compromise model its own maker now talks you out of — superseded by Flash at the same price.
Eleven Turbo v2.5 was ElevenLabs' first serious answer to the latency problem: a model that gave up some of the flagship's expressive range in return for responses in roughly 250 to 300 milliseconds, fast enough for interactive use but still recognisably a quality voice. It covers 32 languages and accepts up to 40,000 characters per request, the same envelope as the Flash line that followed it. What makes the profile unusual is the manufacturer's own guidance: ElevenLabs states that the Turbo models are functionally equivalent to their Flash counterparts except that Flash is faster on average, and recommends Flash in all use cases. Turbo is therefore a live model that its maker steers customers away from — still served, still priced at the low-latency rate of roughly $0.06 per minute, but with no announced advantage over the newer line and no published end-of-life date either. It remains relevant mainly to systems already wired to the eleven_turbo_v2_5 identifier.
