GPT-5.5 Cyber
OpenAI · USA · 2026
The cyber model OpenAI still sells but no longer documents: no model card, no entry in the catalogue, only a line in the price list.
GPT-5.5 Cyber is the middle member of OpenAI's GPT Cyber line — models trained for authorised vulnerability research, exploit validation and security testing, and sold only to defenders vetted through the company's Daybreak programme. It is also the clearest example of how little OpenAI publishes about that line. The model has no card in OpenAI's documentation: the address that would hold it returns 404, and the public model catalogue lists no Cyber model other than GPT-5.6 Cyber. The only place the product is still visible on OpenAI's own site is the price list, where a row reads gpt-5.5-cyber, USD 12.50 per million input tokens, USD 1.25 cached input and USD 75 per million output. That price is a cut. Internet Archive snapshots of the same page show the model appearing between 3 May and 5 June 2026 at USD 20 per million input and USD 120 per million output; by 1 August 2026 the rates had dropped to today's level, a reduction of 37.5 percent, and they now match what OpenAI charges for the newer GPT-5.6 Cyber. What the company has published about the model is a single comparative figure, disclosed when its successor launched on 10 August 2026. On OpenAI's internal Advanced Cybersecurity Completion Rate — which counts how often a model answers dual-use security prompts instead of refusing — GPT-5.5 Cyber scores 57.3 percent, against 95.0 percent for GPT-5.6 Cyber and 1.5 percent for the general-purpose GPT-5.6 Sol. The measure describes willingness, not skill; OpenAI has released no capability benchmark for this version. Access has always been restricted. The Daybreak Red tier, which now fronts the line, requires identity verification, approved-use restrictions, monitoring and legal attestations, and its gpt-daybreak-red-latest alias currently resolves to GPT-5.6 Cyber, not to this model. GPT-5.5 Cyber is therefore reachable only by naming it explicitly. OpenAI has announced no shutdown date for it — unlike the earlier GPT-5.4 Cyber, which leaves the API on 1 October 2026.
