The middle tier of Cosmos 3: a quarter of the flagship's size with none of its modalities removed — and, despite the name, still a data-centre model tested on GB200 and H100.
NVIDIA Cosmos 3 Nano is the middle tier of NVIDIA's third generation of world foundation models, published on Hugging Face on 31 May 2026 alongside the 64-billion Super. It has 16 billion parameters — 15,750,057,456 in BF16 — and shares the flagship's Mixture-of-Transformers design: an autoregressive tower producing text tokens, a diffusion tower denoising images, video, audio and robot action trajectories. The name is misleading in a way worth flagging. Nano is not the on-robot model — that is Cosmos 3 Edge, released seven weeks later at 4 billion parameters. NVIDIA lists Nano's test hardware as GB200 and H100, both data-centre parts. What "Nano" buys is a quarter of the flagship's parameter count without giving up a single modality: unlike Edge, Nano keeps video-with-audio input and audio output, and accepts the same per-embodiment action trajectories, from a 10-dimensional Franka Panda arm to 57-dimensional egocentric human motion. That makes Nano the tier to reach for when a team needs the full omnimodal behaviour — forward dynamics, inverse dynamics, video with sound, structured visual reasoning over a 256,000-token context — but cannot justify serving 64 billion parameters. It ships with a task-tuned sibling, Cosmos3-Nano-Policy-DROID, which turns language instructions and camera views from the DROID robot platform into manipulation trajectories. The training corpus is shared across the family: 767 million image and 348 million video samples for generation, and 22 million text, 19 million image and 1 million video samples for reasoning, gathered from sensors, synthetic sources and automated pipelines. By community response it is the best-received model of the three — 341 likes on Hugging Face against 241 for Super and 174 for Edge — while download volume favours the smaller Edge, which more people can actually run. NVIDIA releases it under OpenMDW 1.1, which permits commercial use, and publishes no price: the weights are a free download with no access gate.
