gpt-5.3-chat-latest pointed to the GPT-5.3 Instant snapshot used in ChatGPT. It is the odd one out in this line, because there is no GPT-5.3 for it to be a variant of: OpenAI's model list contains a GPT-5.3 Chat and a GPT-5.3-Codex, and nothing else under that number. The generation between GPT-5.2 and GPT-5.4 reached the public through the chat product and the coding tool, never as a general API model. On paper it was indistinguishable from the GPT-5.2 chat snapshot: a 128,000-token window, 16,384 tokens of output, no reasoning tokens, knowledge to 31 August 2025 and the same USD 1.75 and USD 14 per million tokens. The published card carries one inconsistency worth flagging — it states a 128,000-token context window and a maximum input of 272,000 tokens in the same list, which cannot both hold. OpenAI deprecated it on 8 May 2026 in the same notice as gpt-5.2-chat-latest and shut both down on 10 August 2026, pointing users to GPT-5.6 Sol.
