Vercari

Vercari is the enclosed member of the five-robot elderly-care line that UBTech unveiled globally on 2 September 2022, where it was still shown under the descriptive name "Containerized Delivery Robot". It is meant for the deliveries a hospital cannot leave on an open tray: medication, samples, documents and personal items moved between a ward, a pharmacy and a blood collection centre. What separates it from the ordinary hotel delivery robot is a six degree-of-freedom arm mounted on the cabinet. The robot does not simply carry a drawer someone else filled - the arm grasps items and arranges them inside, and the drawers open and close on their own mechanism. A dedicated camera sits on the arm, alongside lidar, ultrasonic and infrared sensors, an RGBD camera and an IMU. The second idea is custody. A drawer unlocks only after the recipient identifies themselves with an assigned RF badge or a password, and every item carries its own code, so a delivery can be traced end to end. Scheduling, tracking and monitoring run through UBTech's secure cloud platform, which also handles collision avoidance reports and route changes. The machine is heavy for its class - 150 kg at 105 by 66 by 104 cm - and deliberately low, roughly desk height, so a seated nurse or a resident in a wheelchair can reach the drawers. It travels between 0.1 and 1 m/s, holds position to within 3 cm and 3 degrees, carries 40 kg in the drawers but only 2 kg in the arm's grip, and clears 1 cm steps and 5-degree slopes. UBTech publishes no runtime, battery capacity or price for it, and no charging arrangement - a gap worth noting for a machine sold on round-the-clock ward duty.
