LG says its first bipedal humanoid arrives in Q1 2027 — the robot it already has in a factory this year is the wheeled one

LG announced on 13 August 2026 that it is developing a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot and will show it publicly in the first quarter of 2027. The robot is being built on NVIDIA Isaac GR00T, NVIDIA's open foundation model for humanoid reasoning, with NVIDIA Jetson Thor as the onboard computer and NVIDIA Halos as the safety stack. LG says it will supply the physical layer itself — actuators, sensors, batteries and in-vehicle systems drawn from across its divisions.
The announcement is a statement of intent rather than a product. No name, no specifications, no price and no deployment plan were given, and the unveiling is still two quarters away. What is dated and concrete sits next to it: LG CLOiD, a wheel-based robot, is to go to work this year inside LG Electronics' own washing machine plant in Tennessee. That ordering — wheels in production now, legs on a stage later — matches what the rest of the industry is doing, whatever the humanoid headlines say.
The rest of the expanded partnership is infrastructure. LG CNS is building a robot data platform, PhysicalWorks, to generate synthetic training data; NVIDIA's DSX platform is to power AI factory reference sites in the first half of 2027; and LG plans an 80 MW AI factory in Cheonan, South Korea, for the first half of 2028. Jensen Huang framed the deal as combining LG's product engineering and manufacturing with NVIDIA technology; LG chairman Kwang Mo Koo said the two companies' goals in AI factories and physical AI "have become clear".
For the catalogue, the practical consequence is that there is nothing yet to profile. A humanoid without a name, a datasheet or a public appearance is an announcement, and we will open a profile when LG publishes the machine itself.
