AgileX LIMO PRO

AgileX Robotics · China · 2023

LIMO PRO is a teaching and research platform whose selling point is not what it carries but how many ways it can move. One chassis supports four locomotion modes — four-wheel differential, Ackermann car-style steering, tracked and omnidirectional — so a laboratory can compare control and navigation algorithms across drive types without buying four robots. That is unusual: most mobile bases pick one kinematic model and keep it. The Pro generation is the sensor-and-compute upgrade of the original LIMO. AgileX fits an NVIDIA Orin Nano module, an EAI T-mini Pro lidar and an Orbbec Dabai depth camera, which is enough for SLAM mapping, autonomous localisation, path planning and dynamic obstacle avoidance, and for running vision models on board rather than on a laptop nearby. Battery capacity was doubled to 10,000 mAh against the earlier model. Software is the point of the product as much as hardware: ROS and Gazebo support, Python and C++, and a package of teaching material, demonstrations and code samples. AgileX sells it into university courses and robotics research groups, where a documented, reproducible platform matters more than payload. The machine sits in a broad AgileX line-up organised by drive type — SCOUT and SCOUT MINI for four-wheel drive, HUNTER for Ackermann steering, BUNKER for tracks, RANGER for omnidirectional movement, TRACER for indoor AGV duty and T-REX for wheeled-legged locomotion. LIMO is the small one that does several of those at once. What the maker does not put on the product page is ordinary: no dimensions, mass, top speed, payload or runtime figures are published there, which for a platform aimed at researchers is a real gap. The listed price is USD 3,200; the LIMO COBOT variant with an arm on top is USD 4,400.
