Dobot CR20A

CR20A is the model Dobot built for palletising, welding and heavy pick-and-place: 20 kg of payload across a 1,700 mm radius, the largest working envelope in the range until the CR6AL arrived. It is also the heaviest arm in the family at 73 kg and the hungriest at 500 W, and it is the only CRA model besides the CR30A with four tool-side digital inputs and outputs on a dual-channel end-effector connector, so two tools can be driven without an external splitter. Dobot claims a 50% reduction in residual vibration during high-speed emergency stops and puts a visual status indicator in the base. Common to the CRA series: six rotary axes, a stand-alone safety controller rated PLd Cat.3 with more than twenty safety functions, certification to ISO 13849-1, ISO 10218-1 and ISO/TS 15066, laser calibration giving absolute positioning accuracy under 0.4 mm, an electromagnetic brake that engages within 18 ms and holds position within 1 mm on power loss, 24 digital inputs and outputs with both PNP and NPN switching, and Modbus TCP/RTU, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET as standard. The arm runs DobotStudio Pro; a 10.1-inch teach pendant, the SafeSkin proximity layer (15 cm pre-collision sensing, 0.01 s monitoring, 0.1 s response) and the VX500 five-megapixel smart camera are optional. Dobot rates the joints of this generation at up to 223 deg/s and claims a 25% shorter cycle time than the previous CR series. Two inconsistencies in Dobot's own published data are worth recording rather than hiding. The series comparison table gives this family maximum linear speeds of 3 to 5.5 m/s, while the CR20A product page puts maximum TCP speed at 2,000 mm/s - a gap of nearly threefold that the manufacturer does not explain. And in the same comparison table the ingress-protection row for the two largest models displays a repeatability figure instead of an IP rating; the CR20A product page states IP54 for both arm and control box, which is what this catalogue publishes.
