The middle CRS arm: 5 kg on a 900 mm radius at +/-0.02 mm, five selectable collision-detection levels and a SafeSkin layer that reacts 5 to 15 cm before anything touches it.
CR5AS is the middle arm of Dobot's CRS line - CRA machines shipped with the SafeSkin pre-collision layer as standard. It carries 5 kg within a 900 mm working radius, reaches 1096 mm at full extension, weighs 25 kg and draws 150 W, holding +/-0.02 mm repeatability. Travel is +/-360 degrees on every axis except J3 at +/-160 degrees; J1, J2 and J3 run at 180 deg/s and the wrist at 223 deg/s. Protection is IP54 and the working range is 0 to 50 C. Two things separate it from the smaller CR3AS beyond size. Dobot gives this arm five selectable levels of collision detection, so the force threshold can be matched to the task rather than left at a single factory setting, and fits an interaction panel on the arm itself that opens drag-to-teach programming without reaching for the pendant. Together with SafeSkin - capacitive sensing of both proximity and contact, recommended on J4 to J6, detecting at 5 to 15 cm, sampling every 0.01 s and stopping the machine within 0.1 s - the arm has three independent layers of collision handling: anticipation, force limiting and the safety controller. The honest caveats are the same across the line. SafeSkin reads human bodies, metals and liquids well and non-conductive objects poorly, so it does not make a cage unnecessary in every application. Dobot also publishes the same 25 kg mass as for the CR5A without stating what the skin itself adds, and the product page caps linear speed at 2 m/s while the CRA series comparison table gives 4 m/s for the same arm.
