Magician E6 is Dobot's six-axis arm for teaching, and the point of it is the axis count. The DOBOT Magician that made the company's name in classrooms from 2015 is a four-axis desktop arm; the E6 gives students the same six-degree-of-freedom geometry as an industrial cobot, so what they learn about frames, singularities and orientation transfers directly to a working machine. It is also light enough to be treated as classroom equipment: 7.2 kg or less, on a base of 162 x 120 x 103 mm, with the control box built in so there is nothing to wire beyond mains and network. The working envelope is modest by design - 750 g of payload within a 450 mm radius - and so is the precision: +/-0.1 mm repeatability, five times looser than Dobot's industrial CRA arms and twice as loose as the desktop MG400. Joints are capped at 120 deg/s and tool-centre-point speed at 0.5 m/s, figures chosen for a machine that will spend its life within arm's reach of students rather than behind a fence. J1 and J6 turn a full circle; the intermediate joints cover +/-135, +/-154, +/-160 and +/-173 degrees. Safety here is the light kind appropriate to the class: a streamlined body without pinch points, collision detection, an indicator ring that shows operating state at a glance, and an emergency-stop input. Dobot publishes no safety-rated controller certification for the model, and the IP rating is IP20 - indoor, dry, desktop only, 0 to 40 C and 25 to 85% humidity. Noise is quoted at 60 dB(A). What makes the E6 useful beyond the lab bench is that it is a full member of Dobot's software ecosystem rather than a toy with its own app. It runs DobotStudio Pro, the same environment as the CRA industrial range, with no-code drag-to-teach built on the company's trajectory-replay method, graphical block programming and scripting. Connectivity is two Ethernet ports for TCP/IP and Modbus TCP, sixteen digital inputs and sixteen digital outputs at the base plus two of each at the tool, and an ABZ encoder input for conveyor work. Dobot also sells the arm mounted on a wheeled ROS platform as the DOBOT E6 ROS Mobile Platform, which is a separate product. The E6 appeared in Dobot's catalogue in the first half of 2023 and no list price is published.
