A classroom mobile base on mecanum wheels, built to carry the Magician Lite arm: it drives sideways and diagonally without steering, and runs image, text and face recognition on board rather than in the cloud.
The Magician Go is the wheeled half of a two-part teaching set. On its own it is an omnidirectional platform; its purpose is to carry a Magician Lite arm, turning a fixed pick-and-place exercise into a mobile-manipulation one - the classroom version of the warehouse robot that drives to a shelf and then reaches for a box. The drivetrain is the teaching point. Mecanum wheels, with rollers set at an angle in the rim, let the chassis translate sideways and diagonally and spin on the spot without turning the wheels, which is why the platform can be exercised in a space the size of a school desk. A built-in odometer streams position in real time, so coordinate-based navigation and simple maps can be programmed rather than merely driven by joystick. Two AI cameras are fitted, one at the front of the chassis and one at the tip of the arm, and Dobot is explicit that the recognition work - image, text and face - runs on a locally deployed algorithm rather than on a remote service. For a school that matters twice over: no pupil images leave the room, and the exercise still works when the network does not. Programming is through DobotLab, the same browser environment as the arms, in graphical blocks or Python. One caveat belongs in plain sight: Dobot publishes no specification table for this product on either its English or its Chinese site, and no launch date. The figures that circulate - a top speed of 1 m/s, a 5 kg maximum load, an AI camera of 1600 x 1200 pixels with a 150-degree field of view on a dual-core 64-bit RISC-V processor at 400 MHz, a Cortex-M4 controller and a 0 to 35 C working range - come from distributor listings, not from the manufacturer, and this catalogue marks them as such. The year given here is the earliest documented trace of the product: the software note on Dobot's own product page refers to DobotLab 2.3.2 of 7 November 2022, and the page itself first appears in web archives in March 2023. The arm is sold separately.
