DOBOT X-Trainer is not a robot sold to do a job; it is a rig sold to teach other robots. Dobot announced it on 2 April 2024 as a dual-arm, teleoperated AI training platform, initially for pre-order. An operator moves two master handles, the two slave arms copy the motion, and the whole session - trajectories plus vision - is recorded in a format meant to be fed straight into imitation-learning pipelines. The hardware is assembled from Dobot's own catalogue: two teleoperated master handles, two Nova 2 collaborative arms with grippers and wrist cameras, and a removable mounting platform carrying a global camera. Dobot quotes 0.05 mm precision for the arms and a 25 Hz end-to-end motion interface, which it claims gives 150% faster response than comparable rigs. The efficiency figure the company leads with is training time: routine household-scale tasks such as dish-washing or folding clothes are said to be learnable in about two hours, a 70% cut against its own baseline. During autonomous replay the system is presented as able to correct disturbances on the fly - spotting and re-cleaning a missed stain is Dobot's own example. The software side is the part that matters for research buyers: Dobot ships a data-collection application with teleoperation and trajectory recording, exports AI-ready datasets and exposes an open API, so a laboratory can plug its own training stack behind the rig. Dobot targets university teaching and robotics labs, and - more speculatively - household-chore research, listing dishwashing and laundry folding as the demonstration tasks. The rig is worth reading next to DOBOT Atom, the company's humanoid: X-Trainer is the data-gathering end of the same strategy, and the 0.05 mm figure is the same precision class Dobot advertises for Atom's manipulation.
