Dolphin Wave 120

The Dolphin Wave 120 is a commercial pool cleaner for hotels, resorts and municipal facilities with pools up to 138 feet - about 42 metres. Maytronics never issued a press release for it: it is a North American product, absent from the European trade press. Its date can be bracketed precisely from the maker's own site, which listed only the Wave 100, 150, 200 XL and 300 XL in January 2021 and had added the 60, 80, 120 and 140 by April, with the product photograph uploaded in March. The catalogue therefore records 2021 as the earliest documented year rather than an announced premiere. It is a mains machine, not a battery one: 148 feet of cable on a caddy, 44.1 lb (about 20 kg) of robot, 9,000 gallons of water an hour through a bottom-access filter bag, and four combination brushes. A spare filter bag ships in the box. Cleaning coverage is the full set - floor, walls and waterline - and the machine offers enhanced cleaning cycles, which the larger XL models do not. What makes it the most interesting machine in the range is the comparison one rung up. The Wave 200 XL costs $10,499, three thousand dollars more, yet reaches 127 feet instead of 138 and cleans the floor only. Buyers pay the premium for bulk rather than ability: six brushes instead of four, a multi-layer cartridge instead of a bag, a three-year warranty instead of two, and 13 lb more machine to lift out of the water at the end of a shift. The limits are the same across the family. There is no mobile app, no weekly timer and no automation mode, and the handheld remote is the only manual control. The product sheet again contradicts itself on cycle length, listing a four-hour duration in one place and a six-hour default in another. For a facility whose pool has tiled walls and a visible waterline, this is nevertheless the machine in Maytronics' commercial catalogue that actually cleans them.
