Dolphin Wave 150

The Dolphin Wave 150 is a mains-powered commercial pool cleaner from Maytronics for pools up to 35 metres — apartment complexes, hotels and mid-sized municipal pools. It is one of the least visible machines in the range: the American arm of the manufacturer no longer lists it at all, and the full specification table is published only by the global store under part number 99997150. Maytronics does not date its product cards. The Internet Archive holds a complete product page for the Wave 150 on maytronicsus.com from 21 July 2019, so the catalogue records 2019 as the earliest documented year rather than an announced premiere. The machine may well be older; nothing published by the manufacturer proves it either way. Mechanically the 150 is the heavyweight of the family. It weighs 25 kg — more than twice the Wave 100 — moves 34 cubic metres of water an hour against 17 for the smaller machines, and carries six brushes where they carry two or three. The filter is a fine-filter kit loaded from the top, the cleaning cycle runs six hours by default with a selector for other durations, and a remote control is supplied on a caddy. What that weight and suction do not buy is coverage or reassurance. The Wave 150 cleans the floor only: no walls, no waterline, unlike the far cheaper Wave 80 and Wave 100, which do all three. None of its six brushes is actively driven, there is no full-filter indicator, no enhanced cleaning cycle and no anti-tangling swivel on the 35-metre cable — a machine this size will need its cable untwisted by hand. The warranty is two years, the shortest in the commercial line, where the smaller Wave 80 and Wave 100 both carry three. This is the fourth machine in the range to confirm the same pattern: in the Wave line the model number states the pool length the robot is rated for, not its class of equipment. The 150 buys reach, throughput and mass. Everything that makes a pool cleaner pleasant to own sits on the cheaper models.
