The M1509 is the largest-payload member of the four collaborative arms Doosan Robotics started with. The company calls it a flagship model on its product page, but that phrase is worth discounting: the identical sentence opens the description of M0609, M0617 and M1013 as well, so it is a template rather than a ranking. Doosan showed M0609, M0617, M1013 and M1509 together at Robot World in Seoul in late September 2017 - a debut made possible, as the firm explained at the time, by a modular design in which every joint carries an actuator drawn from just five sizes. Eight years later all four are still on sale, and the M-SERIES sits in the middle of a line-up that has since grown to include the A, E, H and P families. What makes the M1509 unusual is the shape of its working envelope rather than its size. It carries 15 kg over a reach of only 900 mm. Every other Doosan arm that lifts more than 15 kg needs at least 1500 mm of reach to do it, and every other arm with a 900 mm reach carries at most 6 kg. The M1509 is the one point in the maker's catalogue where a heavy payload sits on a short arm, which is what makes it useful for machine tending and press work in cells where there is no room for a long boom. The series' selling point is force sensing. Doosan puts a high-performance torque sensor in each of the six axes - not a single sensor at the wrist, which is the cheaper arrangement - and its own 2020 product page put the resolution at force changes down to 0.2 N. That is the basis both for the collision sensitivity the company advertises and for the compliance control that lets the arm press, insert and polish against a surface instead of following a fixed path. One number in this profile deserves an explicit note, because it has moved. Doosan's own product card for the M1509 declared a repeatability of plus/minus 0.1 mm in October 2018, plus/minus 0.05 mm in 2020, and plus/minus 0.03 mm today. The same tightening happened to the 900 mm M0609; the 1300 mm M1013 stopped at 0.05 mm and the 1700 mm M0617 still stands at 0.1 mm, exactly where the whole series started. At launch Doosan declared one figure for all four models regardless of reach; today the declarations fan out by arm length. The manufacturer does not explain what changed - a hardware revision, a different measurement standard, or simply more confidence in a mature product - so this catalogue records the current figure as the specification and the older ones as history. The rest of the hardware follows the series. The controller supports Ethernet, Wi-Fi, serial and fieldbus links; a compact DC controller (CS-02) is offered for mounting the arm on AGVs and AMRs, and a steel IP54 controller for dirty workshops. The robot ships in white or in a navy finish that resists staining, and a cockpit of buttons on the wrist allows direct hand-guided teaching. Programming runs on Doosan's Dart-Suite platform. Doosan no longer publishes a full specification table on the product page - the complete catalogue sits behind a marketing consent form - so the arm mass, per-axis speeds and protection rating quoted here come from the manufacturer's own 2018 product card, and are flagged as such rather than taken from distributor listings.
