ECOVACS GOAT A3000 LiDAR
Ecovacs Robotics · China · 2025
Robotic lawn mower that maps a garden with two lidars instead of a buried boundary wire or an RTK mast.
The GOAT A3000 LiDAR is the flagship of the Ecovacs garden range announced at CES in January 2025. Its point is what it does not need: no buried perimeter wire and no RTK reference mast on a pole. The LELS Pro system combines a rotating 360-degree lidar on the mast, a solid-state 3D time-of-flight lidar at the front and an AI camera, and Ecovacs claims 2 cm navigation accuracy and a first map built in about five minutes, working equally at night and under tree cover or a roof overhang where satellite positioning degrades. Obstacle avoidance runs on a Horizon Robotics X5 chip with an eight-core CPU and a 10 TOPS neural unit, and the manufacturer lists over 200 recognised obstacle types, hedgehogs among them. Mechanically it is built around a 32 V platform driving twin blade discs at 3,000 rpm across a 33 cm cutting width, with cutting height set from the app between 3 and 9 cm. Ecovacs rates mowing at 400 square metres per hour, climbing at 50 percent gradient (27 degrees), obstacle crossing at 4 cm and the narrowest passage at 80 cm. The 5 Ah battery gives 118 minutes of continuous mowing and recharges in 45 minutes at 180 W, so roughly 500 square metres per two hours including the charging stop. The machine weighs 16.4 kg, measures 680 x 460 x 340 mm and is rated IPX6, while the charging station is IPX4. Two caveats for buyers. Ecovacs' own US page rates the model for three quarters of an acre — about 3,000 square metres — while parts of the trade press describe the same machine as covering 6,000; the figure depends on the market and configuration being quoted. And the manufacturer no longer lists a price for it in its US store, which now sells the successor A3000 LiDAR PRO; the A3000 remains on sale through retailers, where its list price of around USD 3,000 has been widely discounted.
