Epson C12XL

Same 1400 mm arm as the C8XL, but rebuilt around a 12 kg payload: stronger wrist motors, more allowable inertia, one kilogram more mass.
The C12XL is the strongest six-axis arm Epson lists. It is easy to mistake for the C8XL, because the geometry is identical - 1400 mm of horizontal reach to the wrist centre, 1480 mm to the mounting face, the same +/-0.05 mm repeatability and the same shoulder range of -135 to +55 degrees - but the machine underneath is built for half again as much load. The difference is concentrated in the wrist. Maximum payload rises from 8 to 12 kg, the fourth, fifth and sixth axis motors go from 100 to 150 W, and allowable moment of inertia grows from 0.47 to 0.70 kg m2 on the fourth and fifth axes and from 0.15 to 0.20 kg m2 on the sixth. All of that costs just one kilogram of arm mass, 63 kg against 62 kg. Rated payload stays at 3 kg, and the standard cycle is quoted at 0.50 seconds with 1 kg. Two things are given up for the extra capacity. The C12XL is tabletop mount only, where the C8 arms can also hang from a ceiling, and its cleanroom option is ISO Class 4 rather than the Class 3 of the C8 family. In exchange Epson lists options the smaller arms do not get, including the IntelliFlex feeder system and a Euromap 67 interface for injection moulding cells. The arm runs on Epson RC+ 7.0, uses the company's own gyro sensors to damp residual vibration, and is declared to CE, ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012 and NFPA 79. Variants C12XLB and C12XLC add SafeSense safety functions and the newer controller generation.
