The C8L is the middle arm of Epson's six-axis C8 family, sitting between the compact C8 and the long-reach C8XL. All three share a payload of 3 kg rated and 8 kg maximum, the same motors and the same RC700-A controller, so the only thing a buyer is choosing between them is how far the arm has to go and what that costs in precision. On the C8L the answer is mild. Horizontal reach rises to 901 mm at the wrist centre and 981 mm at the mounting face, 190 mm more than the C8, while repeatability moves only from +/-0.02 to +/-0.03 mm. The standard cycle takes 0.38 seconds with 3 kg, and the arm weighs 52 kg, or 56 kg in the IP67 version. Critically, the working envelope is untouched: the second axis keeps the full -158 to +65 degrees of the compact model, which the 1400 mm C8XL loses. That makes the C8L the longest arm in the series that can still fold back over its own base. The rest is standard Epson C series. Brakes on all six axes, allowable inertia of 0.47 kg m2 on the fourth and fifth axes, motors from 1000 W at the shoulder down to 100 W at the wrist, ISO Class 3 cleanroom and ESD options, and 15 electric plus two 6 mm pneumatic user lines routed through the arm, with Ethernet and a connector reserved for force guidance. Programming is in Epson RC+ 7.0 with optional vision guidance, conveyor tracking and the usual fieldbuses. The arm is declared to CE, ANSI/RIA R15.06-1999 and JIS B 8433; it is a fenced industrial robot, not a collaborative one, and Epson also sells C8LB and C8LC variants with SafeSense functions and the newer controller generation.
