The C8XL is the long-reach member of Epson's six-axis C series, sharing a specification sheet with the compact C8 and the mid-length C8L. It exists for cells where the robot has to serve several machines or reach deep into a fixture, rather than for extra lifting: maximum payload stays at 8 kg across all three arms. What changes with length is precision, speed and working envelope, and the manufacturer's own table makes the trade honest. Horizontal reach grows to 1400 mm at the wrist centre and 1480 mm at the mounting face, but repeatability loosens from +/-0.02 mm on the C8 and +/-0.03 mm on the C8L to +/-0.05 mm, and the standard cycle stretches to 0.54 seconds with 3 kg against 0.31 seconds on the compact arm. The arm weighs 62 kg, or 66 kg in the IP67 version, against 49 kg for the C8. The long forearm also costs travel on the shoulder: the second axis is cut from the C8's -158 to +65 degrees down to -135 to +55 degrees, so the arm cannot fold as far back over its own base. The rest of the envelope is unchanged - J1 +/-240, J3 -61 to +202, J4 +/-200, J5 +/-135 and J6 +/-360 degrees - as are the motor ratings, the brakes on all six axes and the ISO Class 3 cleanroom and ESD options. Control is by the RC700-A, and the arm is declared to CE, ANSI/RIA R15.06-1999 and JIS B 8433. Like the rest of the series it is a fenced industrial robot, and Epson also sells a C8XLB variant with SafeSense safety functions built in.
