The long-reach model of Epson's CX-A line: 901 mm to the fifth joint, 7 kg maximum payload and +/-0.02 mm repeatability — the same arm as the CX7A stretched by 200 mm.
The CX7LA is the largest arm in Epson's CX-A series and the plainest illustration of what the extra letter in the name buys. It is mechanically the CX7A with a longer forearm: the same 3 kg rated and 7 kg maximum payload, the same joint travel down to the degree, the same 2.0 kVA supply and the same RC800-A controller, but 901.0 mm of reach to the centre of the fifth joint and 982.5 mm to the tool flange, against 701.3 and 782.8 on the CX7A. The series repeats a pattern that is easy to miss when reading a single data sheet. Across the three models, repeatability loosens as the arm gets longer — +/-0.01 mm on the CX4A, +/-0.015 mm on the CX7A, +/-0.02 mm here — so the long-reach model ends up at the figure Epson's twelve-year-old C4 quoted at half the reach. Mass follows the same curve: 33 to 36 kg depending on cabling variant and sealing, three kilograms more than the CX7A. What does not change is the wrist, which turns +/-540 degrees, and the allowable inertia of 0.49 kg·m2 at the fourth and fifth joints — the arm keeps the full payload envelope of the shorter model rather than derating it. In practice this is the member of the family for machine tending across a wide bench, palletising small parts, or reaching into a press or a moulding machine from outside its footprint, where the extra 200 mm matters more than the last five microns of repeatability. It mounts on a table, a wall or a ceiling, comes in standard, ESD, ISO Class 3 cleanroom and IP67 protected builds, and like every CX-A it is an industrial robot for a guarded cell, not a collaborative arm.
