The GX8C is the current version of the mid-size arm in Epson's GX SCARA family, described in a manufacturer specification sheet dated March 2025. Seiko Epson has shipped more SCARA robots than any other maker for over two decades, and this is the model that carries most of that volume: a four-axis arm for assembly, dispensing and pick-and-place on electronics and small-parts lines. The mechanical figures are unchanged from the GX8 that opened the series: arm lengths of 450, 550 or 650 mm, a rated payload of 4 kg rising to 8 kg maximum, and repeatability of +/-0.015 mm on the first two joints, +/-0.010 mm on the vertical third axis and +/-0.005 degrees on the rotating fourth. A standard cycle takes 0.28 seconds on the 450 mm arm, 0.30 and 0.33 seconds on the longer two. The arm itself weighs 33 to 37 kg depending on length and mounting, and can be bolted to a table, a ceiling or a wall. What the C generation changes is the electronics around the arm. The controller is the RC800A rather than the RC700 line, and the robot carries Epson's SafeSense functions, with TUV certification against ISO 10218-1, ISO 13849, UL 1740 and CSA Z434 - safety-rated monitoring on an arm that is not itself a collaborative robot and still needs a fence. Vibration is handled by Epson's GYROPLUS quartz gyro sensor, the same technology the company puts in its cameras. Versions exist for standard use, for ESD-sensitive work, for ISO Class 3 cleanrooms and as an IP65 protected model; the fourth axis turns +/-360 degrees and tolerates 0.16 kg·m2 of inertia at maximum. Power is single-phase 200-240 V at 2.2 kVA.
