CR-15iA

FANUC · Japan · 2018

The middle of FANUC's green cobot line: 15 kg over 1,441 mm at +/-0.02 mm. It spends 255 kg of its own mass to lift 15 kg - the price of the CR series' base-mounted force sensing.

The CR-15iA fills the gap FANUC left between the 7 kg CR-7iA and the 35 kg CR-35iA. It carries 15 kg over a 1,441 mm reach with repeatability of +/-0.02 mm, on six axes, driven by the R-30iB Plus controller. Like the rest of the green CR series it senses contact through a sensor built into its base rather than through skin panels, and it can be taught with the standard teach pendant or, as an option, by hand guidance - leading the arm through the path and recording it. Its figures place it in the middle of the family, including on the measure that separates FANUC's two cobot lines: mass. At 255 kg of robot for 15 kg of payload the ratio is seventeen to one - lighter than the 990 kg CR-35iA at twenty-eight to one, heavier than the 375 kg CR-35iB at seven and a half to one, and far heavier than the white CRX arms, where the CRX-5iA manages five to one. That number is the price of the CR series' precision and base-mounted sensing: these arms are installed, not carried between jobs. FANUC introduced the CR-15iA at PACK EXPO International in October 2018, two years after the first three CR arms appeared at IMTS. It is now, with the CR-35iB, one of only two green arms left in the manufacturer's collaborative range. It moves at 800 mm/s in collaborative mode and 1,500 mm/s when no one is in the cell. Protection is IP54 on the body, standard or optional, and IP67 on the wrist and J3 arm - a step down from the fully IP67 CR-7iA. Wrist moments are 26.9, 26 and 11 N.m on J4, J5 and J6. FANUC lists it for handling, machine tending, inspection and logistics, and publishes no price.
