CR-35iB

The CR-35iB is FANUC's heavy-payload collaborative robot and, by the manufacturer's own claim, the strongest cobot on the market. Six axes carry up to 50 kg over a 1,643 mm reach, with repeatability of +/-0.03 mm, the R-30iB Plus controller, IP54 on the body and IP67 on the wrist and J3 arm. Unlike the rest of FANUC's cobot line it is floor-mount only: at 375 kg of arm this is a fixed installation, not a machine moved between cells. The name no longer matches the specification, and that is the single most useful thing to know about this robot. It launched in May 2022 as a 35 kg cobot, a lighter successor to the 2015 CR-35iA - roughly 62 percent lighter, 375 kg against 990 kg, which was the point of the redesign. On 1 June 2023, after showing the machine at Automate in Detroit, FANUC America announced a payload increase to 50 kg while leaving the model number alone. The company did the same thing at the same event to the CRX-25iA, which became the CRX-30iA. Buyers reading a 2022 datasheet and a 2026 quotation are looking at two different payload figures for one catalogue number. Sources disagree in two more places and this catalogue records the manufacturer's specification table. FANUC's cobot microsite describes the payload as 35 kg or 50 kg, suggesting both ratings are still sold. Reach is given as 1,643 mm on both FANUC America pages, while the 2022 European launch release quoted 1,831 mm. On speed the product page lists 300 mm/s collaborative and 750 mm/s high-speed, the microsite 750 mm/s for both. The redesign widened the working envelope: J2 rotates 215 degrees against 165 on the predecessor, and the J5 wrist swings 280 degrees against 220. FANUC lists it for machine tending, palletizing, part transfer and inspection with 3D vision, warrants eight years without scheduled maintenance, and publishes no price.
