The CR-4iA is the smallest machine in FANUC's collaborative range, a tabletop green cobot introduced at IMTS in September 2016. Six axes carry 4 kg over a 550 mm reach with repeatability of +/-0.01 mm, on the R-30iB Plus controller, with IP67 sealing throughout, floor, angle or inverted mounting and 1 kW average power draw. Collaborative speed is 500 mm/s, rising to 1,000 mm/s in high-speed mode. The striking figure is the ratio of mass to payload. The arm weighs 48 kg and lifts 4 kg - twelve to one, the worst in FANUC's catalogue and a consequence of building a full industrial wrist and a sensor skin at a size where neither shrinks much. For comparison, the newer CRX-5iA lifts 5 kg from a 25 kg arm, five to one. What the CR-4iA still offers over that machine is precision: +/-0.01 mm against +/-0.03 mm, the difference that keeps this line in small-part assembly, gauging and inspection work. FANUC sells it as a bench robot for tasks a person would otherwise do seated, and publishes no price.
