FANUC's first-generation green cobot: 7 kg over 717 mm at +/-0.01 mm, the most accurate collaborative arm the company builds - and, at 53 kg for 7 kg of payload, the heaviest way it has ever bought that accuracy.
The CR-7iA is a tabletop collaborative arm from FANUC's original green CR line, introduced by FANUC America at IMTS in September 2016 alongside the smaller CR-4iA and the long-arm CR-7iA/L. Six axes carry 7 kg over a 717 mm reach on the R-30iB Plus controller, with IP67 on body, wrist and J3 arm, floor, angle or inverted mounting and average power draw of 1 kW. Speed is capped at 500 mm/s in collaborative mode and 1,000 mm/s behind a guard. Its repeatability is the number that still stands out: +/-0.01 mm, three times tighter than any arm in the newer white CRX range, which sits at +/-0.03 to +/-0.05 mm. The trade is mass. This robot weighs 53 kg to move 7 kg, while a CRX-10iA weighs 39 kg to move 10 kg - the older green machines are built like scaled-down industrial arms with a sensor skin over them, and the CRX generation was FANUC's answer to that weight. Readers comparing the two families should treat CR as the precision option and CRX as the portable one, not as old and new versions of the same thing: FANUC sells both.
