CRX-10iA

The CRX-10iA is the founding model of FANUC's CRX family of collaborative arms. FANUC showed it at the International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo on 18-21 December 2019 and put it on sale in the second quarter of 2020. The company that has more industrial robots installed worldwide than any other builder came late to cobots, and this was the machine it came with. The specification is deliberately ordinary: 10 kg payload, 1,249 mm reach, six axes, repeatability of +/-0.05 mm, 39 kg of arm, the R-30iB Plus controller, IP67 on the body, wrist and J3 arm, and floor, angle or inverted mounting. It runs at 1,000 mm/s in collaborative mode and 2,000 mm/s in high-speed mode, the standard split for the range. The J3 axis swings through 570 degrees, more than any other joint on any CRX, which is what lets the elbow fold out of the way in a tight cell. What FANUC actually sells is the service interval. The CRX line is warranted for eight years with no scheduled maintenance and no grease changes, which for a machine tending a lathe two shifts a day is a larger number than any millimetre in the table. Programming is by hand guidance and a tablet with drag-and-drop icons rather than a teach pendant; FANUC aims the robot at plants with no robotics staff at all. Typical work is palletizing, welding and assembly, with dispensing, deburring and food handling as secondary uses. FANUC quotes per configuration and publishes no list price.
