The CRX-20iA/L was announced on 1 March 2022 together with the CRX-5iA and CRX-25iA, and FANUC began shipping production units in April 2022. It is the model that makes the CRX range worth reading carefully. Set it against the CRX-10iA/L, which FANUC still sells. Both have a 1,418 mm reach. Both are six-axis arms on the R-30iB Plus controller with IP67 sealing and the same floor, angle or inverted mounting. The CRX-20iA/L carries 20 kg against 10 kg, is more accurate at +/-0.04 mm against +/-0.05 mm, and weighs 41 kg against 39 kg. Twice the capacity and a tighter tolerance for two kilograms of extra arm is a genuinely good trade, and it means reach tells a buyer almost nothing about what a CRX will lift. The cost is in a row most buyers skim. Every other arm in the family runs at 1,000 mm/s in collaborative mode and 2,000 mm/s in high-speed mode, the mode used when the fence is up and no one is standing next to the robot. FANUC publishes 1,000 mm/s for both modes on the CRX-20iA/L. In practice the strongest mid-size cobot in the range never moves faster than human-safe speed, so on a fenced cycle a CRX-10iA/L will out-produce it on any move it can physically make. The wrist is proportionally reinforced - moments of 70, 64 and 30 N.m against 34.8, 26 and 11 - and FANUC lists the robot for palletizing, welding, machine tending, inspection and material removal.
