The smallest FANUC cobot: 5 kg over 994 mm from a 25 kg arm, and the most accurate of the CRX line at +/-0.03 mm. Light enough to be carried to the job and bolted down where it is needed.
The CRX-5iA is the entry point to FANUC's collaborative range. Six axes carry 5 kg over a 994 mm reach with repeatability of +/-0.03 mm, on the R-30iB Plus controller, with IP67 sealing on body, wrist and J3 arm and a choice of floor, angle or inverted mounting. The arm weighs 25 kg - less than a fifth of the CRX-30iA at the other end of the family, and light enough that one technician can move it between machines rather than commissioning a fixed cell. It is also the most accurate cobot FANUC sells. At +/-0.03 mm it is tighter than the 10 kg and 30 kg CRX models at +/-0.05 mm, which matters for the work it is actually sold into: machine tending, small-part assembly, inspection, dispensing and pick-and-place. Its speed ceiling is the standard CRX arrangement, 1,000 mm/s in collaborative mode and 2,000 mm/s behind a fence - worth stating because the CRX-20iA/L, alone in the family, has no high-speed mode at all. A shop choosing between the two on payload alone would miss that the small arm can be run twice as fast once guarded. FANUC announced the CRX-5iA on 1 March 2022 together with the CRX-20iA/L and the CRX-25iA, the machine now sold as the CRX-30iA, with shipments from June 2022. The line's selling point is maintenance: FANUC warrants eight years with no scheduled maintenance, and programming is done by hand guidance or drag-and-drop icons on a tablet teach pendant rather than in a robot language. A food-grade variant is offered. No list price is published.
