Flexiv Rizon 4s

Flexiv · United States · 2020

The most sensitive arm Flexiv sells: force sensing to 0.03 N, three times finer than the Rizon 4 it is based on. The trade is deliberate — maximum tool force drops from 200 N to 150 N.

Rizon 4s launched in December 2020, the same month Flexiv closed a Series B round of more than 100 million dollars. It is the fine-touch version of the Rizon 4: same seven axes, same 4 kg payload, same ±0.05 mm pose repeatability to ISO 9283, but force sensing accuracy of 0.03 N instead of 0.1 N. That one number is the whole reason the model exists, and it is worth reading next to the one below it. Where the Rizon 4 can push with up to 200 N at the tool point, the 4s is rated for 150 N. Across the family the pattern holds only here: the 10 kg arms both keep 350 N while their force resolution differs. In other words Flexiv did not simply add a better sensor — the sensitive variant gives up a quarter of its pushing force, which is the trade a buyer has to make consciously. Work where it pays is delicate: fitting parts with small clearances, contact inspection, sanding and polishing on soft surfaces, and teaching by hand. The rest is the family standard. Reach is 919 mm, 43 mm longer than the Rizon 4, the arm weighs 21 kg, sealing is IP65, operating range 0 to 45 °C, noise under 70 dB, tool flange ISO 9409-1-50-4-M6, typical tool speed 1.0 m/s, and the arm mounts at any angle including on a mobile platform. Control runs through the Hesper cabinet — 12 kg, 500 W, IP20, 423 × 230 × 230 mm, 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs, PROFINET and Modbus TCP/IP — with Flexiv Elements on the teach pendant and the Flexiv RDK plus a ROS 2 driver for developers. As with the whole series, Flexiv publishes no joint speeds, no arm power consumption, no safety performance level and no list price.
