Grok Imagine Video

Grok Imagine Video is the first video model xAI put on sale. It arrived in the API on 28 January 2026, the same day the company relaunched its image generation, and it turns a text prompt, a still image or an existing clip into a new clip through the Imagine endpoints. It tops out at 720p. Callers pay $0.05 for every second of 480p output and $0.07 per second at 720p; a supplied image costs $0.002 and a supplied video $0.01 per second on top of that. The successor model, Grok Imagine Video 1.5, renders natively at 1080p but charges $0.08 per second - sixty percent more than the 480p rate here - which is why the older model stayed in the price list instead of being retired. The first generation also keeps one commercial advantage its successor lost: it is accepted by the discounted Batch API in the us-east-1 and us-west-2 regions, while both Imagine 1.5 models are refused there with an explicit error. A separate endpoint extends an existing clip from its final frame, billed at a promotional rate that xAI says may change. xAI publishes no benchmark table for the model, does not release its weights, and rate-limits it to ten requests per second per customer.
