JAKA MiniCobo

JAKA added the MiniCobo to its line-up in 2021, four years after the Zu series that made the Shanghai company's name. It is a different kind of machine from the factory arms above it: 9.4 kg including cables, 580 mm of reach, 1 kg of payload and a 124 mm footprint, meant to sit on a bench or inside a machine rather than on a factory floor. The controller is the part that makes it portable. Where every Zu shares one 18 kg mains-powered cabinet, the MiniCobo runs from a MiniCab weighing about 1.7 kg with accessories, measuring 180 × 28 × 47 mm and fed with 30–60 V DC at up to 40 A. Rated power is 150 W. It carries seven configurable I/O channels against the sixteen-in, sixteen-out of the big cabinet, and speaks the same Modbus TCP and RTU, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP. The arm mounts at any angle, works from 0 to 50 °C, and its tool port supplies 24 V DC through an M8 connector with two digital inputs, two digital outputs and two analogue inputs. Maximum tool speed is 1 m/s and the robot connection cable is 6 m long. The structure is aluminium alloy and polycarbonate. The trade is precision. Repeatability is ±0.1 mm — five times looser than the ±0.02 mm of the 3 kg Zu3 and the weakest figure JAKA publishes for any of its arms. For education, laboratory work, light inspection and desktop assembly that is generally enough; for the screwdriving and fixture work the Zu family is sold into, it is not. One field is missing on purpose. JAKA's parameter table for this model has its labels shifted by one row — "Rated voltage" carries a wattage, "Temperature range" carries a voltage and "IP classification" carries a temperature — which leaves the arm's actual ingress rating unstated. It has not been guessed here, and the values above were reassigned only where the correct row could be identified from the newer JAKA Mini 2 table, which lists the same fields correctly. The controller is rated IP20. JAKA does not publish a list price.
