The strongest arm of JAKA's original family — 18 kg of payload — and the one that shows the family's odd geometry most clearly: it lifts half again as much as the Zu12 but reaches 254 mm less far.
The Zu18 closes JAKA's original collaborative family at the top. It carries 18 kg, reaches 1,073 mm, weighs 35 kg with cables, draws 500 W in typical use and stands on the same 188 mm footprint as the Zu12. The arm is sealed to IP54 and runs from the shared control cabinet: 410 × 307 × 235 mm, 18 kg, IP44, 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs, two analogue channels, Modbus TCP and RTU, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP. Put it next to the Zu12 and the family's design becomes legible. The Zu18 lifts 50 percent more but reaches 254 mm less far, and it is lighter than the Zu12 by 6 kg. These are not two sizes of one arm; they are two different structures aimed at different jobs — the Zu12 built to cover a wide table, the Zu18 to work heavier loads closer in. The pattern repeats one class up, where the 20 kg model reaches 1,780 mm and the 30 kg model 1,350 mm. Repeatability is ±0.03 mm, the same as the Zu12 and one grade off the ±0.02 mm of the shorter arms. JAKA rates its force-control package up to 18 kg, which makes this the largest arm in the range that can use it — relevant for arc welding, where the company sells force-guided teaching as part of the welding process package. As with the rest of the series, there is no teach pendant. Programming is graphical from a phone, tablet or laptop, with hand-guided teaching for setting points, and the arm mounts at any angle. Not stated here because JAKA does not state it: joint speeds, maximum tool speed, safety performance level and price. The manufacturer's parameter table for this model is shifted by one row, leaving the fields labelled "Degree of freedom" and "Humidity" carrying other rows' values; they have been left out rather than transcribed.
