The long-armed five-kilogram model of JAKA's original family: 954 mm of reach and ±0.02 mm repeatability on a 23 kg arm. It carries less than the Zu7 yet weighs more, because reach — not payload — sets the mass here.
The Zu5 belongs to JAKA's original collaborative range, which the Shanghai manufacturer launched in 2017 and showed at the 19th China International Industry Fair. It lifts 5 kg, reaches 954 mm and weighs 23 kg with cables, drawing a typical 350 W from the mains. It is the model that shows most clearly how this family is dimensioned. The Zu5 carries 2 kg less than the Zu7 but reaches 135 mm further, and it is the heavier of the two — 23 kg against 22 kg. Across the whole series the pattern holds: mass tracks arm length rather than rated payload, because a longer arm needs stronger joints to hold up its own structure before it holds up anything else. Precision is unaffected by the extra length. Repeatability is ±0.02 mm, the tightest figure JAKA publishes and one shared with the 3 and 7 kg arms; the company only relaxes it at 12 kg (±0.03 mm) and again from 20 kg upwards (±0.05 mm). The arm is sealed to IP54 and stands on the same 158 mm circular footprint as the smaller models. Control is the series standard: a separate cabinet measuring 410 × 307 × 235 mm and weighing 15.4 kg, rated IP44, with 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs and two analogue channels, speaking TCP/IP, Modbus TCP and RTU, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP on 100–240 V mains. No teach pendant ships with the robot — programming is graphical from a phone, tablet or laptop, and points are taught by guiding the arm by hand. Two digital inputs, two digital outputs and two analogue inputs sit at the tool flange. JAKA sells the size into screwdriving, flexible assembly, gluing, handling, flexible grasping and arc welding, and rates its force-control package for payloads from 3 to 18 kg, which covers this model. As with the rest of the family, the manufacturer publishes no joint speeds, no maximum tool speed, no safety performance level and no list price. Its parameter table is also shifted by one row — the fields labelled "Degree of freedom" and "Humidity" show values belonging to other rows — so those entries were not carried into this profile.
