Japanese lifting AMR that slides under the carts and racks a site already owns, raises them and carries up to 100 kg through 500 mm gaps.
Kachaka Evo is Preferred Robotics' answer to the main objection raised against its earlier machines: that a robot which can only tow its own branded shelf forces a site to buy new furniture. Evo lifts instead of towing. It drives under an existing cart, rack or container — anything with 200 to 230 mm of clearance and 500 mm of width — recognises it visually, raises it and carries it, up to 100 kg. The company announced the robot on 2 December 2025 and showed working units at iREX 2025 in Tokyo the following day, some twenty months after exhibiting the same idea as an unnamed concept in April 2025. The production machine is a different class of hardware from Kachaka Pro: 63 kg instead of 12.2, twin 360-degree laser scanners with 30 m range instead of a single 12 m unit, lithium iron phosphate cells instead of lithium-ion, and a 7-hour working day under full load. It still keeps the two properties the family is sold on — SLAM navigation with no tape or markers on the floor, and setup from a browser by the site's own staff rather than an integrator. What Evo does not do is climb. A 10 mm step limit and 5 degrees of slope keep it on smooth indoor floors, and the 100 kg rating is stated by the manufacturer to vary with the surface. Elevator integration extends it between floors, and the Kachaka Fleet Manager control layer, released in September 2025, coordinates several machines. Preferred Robotics builds the robot in Japan and sells it to order rather than at a list price; positioning is against light warehouse AMRs and against the manual pallet trucks and roll cages that most Japanese factories, hospitals and hotels still push by hand.
