Kachaka Slim

Kachaka Slim is the narrow model of the Kachaka transport robot family, launched by Preferred Robotics on 12 November 2025. It exists because of a single complaint the manufacturer kept hearing from customers: city clinics in Japan have corridors too tight for the earlier Kachaka and Kachaka Pro. The fix is structural rather than cosmetic. Every earlier Kachaka drives underneath a dedicated piece of furniture, latches on and tows it — which means the robot may be small, but the shelf legs on both sides set the real width of the passage it needs. Slim drops that principle: the furniture is mounted directly on the robot body. With no legs flanking the machine, the whole vehicle passes through a 450 mm gap, against 550-650 mm for the towing models. The body is 260 mm wide, 420 mm deep and 760 mm tall, and carries up to 15 kg — half the towing capacity of Kachaka Pro. That is the trade the buyer makes: a robot that reaches places the rest of the family cannot, in exchange for a lighter load. In the clinics the manufacturer targets, the cargo is patient files between reception and treatment rooms, used instruments going back for sterilisation, and dispensed medicines from the pharmacy counter. Operation follows the family pattern: the site is mapped with a smartphone, destinations are registered in the app, and day-to-day use comes down to pressing a physical Kachaka Button, after which the robot drives itself and returns to its charging dock unaided. No programming and no floor markings are involved. Preferred Robotics does not publish the robot's own weight, battery, speed or sensor list, and gives no price beyond calling the model low-cost with no additional fees — so this profile carries no figures the manufacturer has not stated. Integration with Kachaka Fleet Manager, the multi-robot controller sold for the other models, is announced as a plan rather than a shipping feature.
