LBR iisy 11 R1300
KUKA · Germany · 2022
The longest arm in KUKA’s cobot range: 11 kg over 1300 mm. It shares its mechanics with the 6 kg model — same reach, same controller, nearly double the payload.
The LBR iisy 11 R1300 is the long-reach member of KUKA's cobot family: 11 kg of total load over 1300 mm on six axes, announced together with the 15 kg model in June 2022 and available from the end of that year. The two were the first KUKA robots to run the iiQKA operating system, now in its OS2 generation. Read across the family and a structure appears that KUKA does not spell out. The seven builds use two arm lengths for the larger machines: 930 mm and 1300 mm, each sold in two payload classes. At 1300 mm the choice is 6 kg or 11 kg; at 930 mm it is 8 kg or 15 kg. Reach therefore does not identify the robot — payload nearly doubles inside the same envelope, on the same KR C5 micro-2 controller and the same IP54 rating. The practical consequence for anyone laying out a cell is that the working envelope can be fixed first and the payload chosen afterwards, which is not how most cobot ranges are organised. The sensing package is the family standard: a joint torque sensor in every axis, giving direct measurement of external force, hand guiding for teaching, and force-controlled assembly and joining. The ARGUS safety system handles monitoring, iiQKA.SafeOperation covers safe workspace, position and speed limits, and fenceless operation is possible after a risk assessment. The arms are ESD-compliant to IEC 61340-5-1. This model is one of two in the range with a factory cleanroom variant. The LBR iisy 11 R1300 CR is a separate catalogue number rated up to ISO Class 3 — cleaner than the class its competitors quote, and without the speed condition that both Universal Robots and ABB attach to their cleanroom ratings. Buying a different robot instead of slowing the standard one is the more expensive answer and the more honest one. KUKA publishes neither pose repeatability nor arm weight for this model on its product page; distributor figures exist but are treated here as unverified at source. Sales run through integrators and the KUKA Marketplace, with no list price published.
