LBR iisy 3 R760

The LBR iisy 3 R760 is the entry point to KUKA's cobot family: three kilograms of total load over a 760 mm reach on six axes. It is the machine on which KUKA introduced the iiQKA operating system, and the smallest of the seven builds the Augsburg company currently lists under the LBR iisy name. Mechanically it repeats the family recipe. Every axis carries a joint torque sensor, so the arm measures external force directly rather than inferring contact from motor current; that is what makes hand guiding usable for teaching and force-controlled assembly possible. Mounting is free — floor, wall, ceiling or at an angle — and control is the KR C5 micro-2, the same platform KUKA uses for its small industrial robots rather than a cobot-only box. Programming is iiQKA.OS2, with iiQWorks.Sim for offline commissioning. One specification separates this model from the rest of the range, and it is easy to miss. The 3 R760 is rated IP30; every other LBR iisy, from the 6 kg model upwards, is rated IP54. IP30 means protection against solid objects above 2.5 mm and no protection against water at all. In practice that draws a line around where the robot belongs: assembly benches, laboratories, electronics and light kitting work, but not machining cells with coolant mist, not grinding or sanding dust, and not anywhere that gets hosed down. Buyers scanning a family table for the cheapest arm that fits the payload will not see that line unless they read the row. KUKA does not publish pose repeatability, arm weight or per-axis speeds for this model on its product page; distributor listings circulate figures, but this catalogue treats them as unverified at source and leaves the fields marked as not published. The launch year is likewise not stated outright by the manufacturer: KUKA's June 2022 announcement of the 11 kg and 15 kg models describes the 3 kg version as already part of the iiQKA generation, so 2022 is recorded here as a lower bound rather than a premiere date.
