LBR iisy 6 R1300

KUKA · Germany · 2023

The reach-first option in KUKA’s cobot range: the full 1300 mm arm at 6 kg. It is also the smallest LBR iisy that is protected against dust and water — the step below it is not.

The LBR iisy 6 R1300 carries 6 kg over the longest arm KUKA builds in this family, 1300 mm across six axes. It joined the range in 2023, a year after the two models that opened the family, and it exists for a specific reason: some cells need the working envelope but never the payload, and until it arrived the only way to reach 1300 mm was to buy the 11 kg machine. Reading the whole family side by side shows the pattern KUKA does not name. The larger builds use two arm lengths, 930 mm and 1300 mm, and each length is sold in two payload classes: 6 or 11 kg at 1300 mm, 8 or 15 kg at 930 mm. Reach therefore does not identify the robot. The controller, the operating system and the protection class are the same across all four — what changes is how much the arm will hold. There is a second, less obvious threshold in this model. The 6 kg is the smallest LBR iisy rated IP54. The only machine below it, the 3 kg R760, is IP30: protected against solid bodies above 2.5 mm and not protected against water at all. Between 3 kg and 6 kg the family therefore crosses from an assembly-bench robot to one that can stand in a machining cell with coolant mist, swarf and wash-down. The step is bigger than the payload figures suggest. The sensing package is the family standard: a joint torque sensor in every axis for direct measurement of external force, hand guiding for teaching, and force-controlled assembly and joining. Safety monitoring runs through KUKA ARGUS and iiQKA.SafeOperation, and fenceless operation is possible after a risk assessment. The arms are ESD-compliant to IEC 61340-5-1. KUKA does not publish pose repeatability, arm weight or per-axis speeds for this model on its product page. Distributor listings quote such figures; this catalogue treats them as unverified at source and leaves the fields marked as unpublished.
