Sora 2 Pro

Sora 2 Pro is the high-compute edition of OpenAI’s video generator, released on 6 October 2025, six days after Sora 2 itself. It takes text and images as input and returns video with synchronised audio — the feature that distinguished the second generation from the first, where sound had to be added afterwards. Billing is by the second of finished video, and resolution sets the rate: $0.30 per second at 720x1280 or 1280x720, $0.50 per second at 1024x1792 or 1792x1024, and $0.70 per second at full 1080p in either orientation. A ten-second clip therefore costs $3.00 at 720p and $7.00 at 1080p, so the top resolution is more than twice the price of the entry one for the same length. The model runs through the videos endpoint rather than the chat or responses APIs, and it is not a text model — there is no context window or token pricing to speak of. Sora 2 remains available as the cheaper option in the same family.
