SwitchBot S20

The S20 is the machine SwitchBot puts against the flagships of Roborock, Dreame and Ecovacs, and it competes on the wet half of the job rather than on suction alone. Instead of a flat pad dragged behind the robot, it uses a roller the company calls RevoRoll, pressed to the floor with a kilogram of force and rinsed continuously in a four-step cycle while it scrubs - SwitchBot rates the movement at 300 wipes per minute. The point of rinsing during work is that the water touching the floor stays cleaner than in a system that soaks one pad for the whole run. Dry cleaning is handled by 10,000 Pa of suction with rubber anti-tangle brushes, and the robot raises power to the full figure automatically when it detects carpet. Navigation is dToF LiDAR, with obstacle avoidance split across an AI camera, a front infrared sensor and side PSD sensors; the robot crosses thresholds up to 20 mm. The station is what justifies the price. It empties the dustbin into a bag rated for 90 days, washes the roller during the run, and dries it with hot air at 50 degrees Celsius to stop the smell that mop robots are notorious for. In the variant sold as S20 with Auto-Fill and Drain System the station is connected to the household plumbing, so clean water arrives and dirty water leaves without anyone carrying a bucket - the feature that separates a hands-off robot from one that still needs a daily visit. List price is 799.99 US dollars in the US and EU versions, with the plumbed variant sold under the same figure.
