The TM20 is the top of Techman Robot's six-axis collaborative range, released in 2021 alongside the TM16. It carries 20 kg to the end of a 1300 mm arm, which makes it the strongest machine the Taiwanese manufacturer offers, and like every arm in the line it ships with a 5-megapixel colour camera built into the wrist and calibrated at the factory rather than bought as an accessory. The interesting comparison is not with the competition but with the TM12 sitting one shelf below it. Both arms reach 1300 mm. The TM20 weighs 33 kg against the TM12's 32.8 kg — two hundred grammes apart — yet carries eight kilogrammes more. That extra capacity is not bought with a bigger structure; it is bought with time. The first two joints of the TM12 turn at 120 degrees per second, the TM20's at 90. Its average tool speed drops from 1.3 to 1.1 metres per second. Anyone sizing a cell on payload alone should read the cycle-time consequence: on the same footprint, the heavier arm is roughly a quarter slower at the shoulder. Repeatability is quoted at plus/minus 0.1 mm — the figure shared by every Techman arm above the TM5 series, regardless of length. That is worth stating plainly, because it contradicts the pattern seen at other cobot manufacturers, where accuracy degrades as the arm gets longer. Here the 900 mm TM16 is quoted at exactly the same tolerance as the 1300 mm TM20, while the TM5-900, no shorter than the TM16, holds plus/minus 0.05 mm. At Techman precision follows the platform, not the reach. Protection is IP54 on the arm — dust and splashing water, no wash-down — but the whole series is rated for ISO Class 3 cleanrooms, a demanding class that puts these arms in semiconductor and optics work, and the DC-powered X variants are additionally available with SEMI S2 certification. The arm mounts on floor, wall or ceiling, runs from a separate 14 kg control box, and is programmed in TMflow, a flowchart environment in which positions are taught by pulling the arm by hand. A note on sourcing: Techman's own product pages publish no specification table, and its printed catalogue carries the figures as an image with no text layer. The numbers above are those published by Omron, which has resold the platform under its own brand since the two firms allied in 2018 and which documents the range in full.
