Techman TM20S

Techman Robot · Taiwan · 2025

Same 20 kg and 1300 mm as the older TM20, but washdown-rated and twice as repeatable: +/-0.03 instead of +/-0.1 mm, on an arm no heavier than before.

The TM20S is the S-series replacement for Techman's 20 kg workhorse, added to the line in 2025 alongside the long-reach TM6S. On paper the headline numbers are unchanged from the older TM20: 20 kg of payload, 1300 mm of reach, 33 kg of arm. What changed is everything the older arm could not do. Repeatability is the clearest gain. The TM20 is specified at plus/minus 0.1 mm; the TM20S is listed at plus/minus 0.03 mm, which is the S-series figure and the number Techman describes as up to 70 percent better than the earlier line. That is a genuine generational step rather than a marketing rounding, and it lands on an arm of the same mass and geometry - the improvement comes from the joints and control, not from a shorter or stiffer structure. It also makes the TM20S more accurate than the two larger S arms, the TM25S and TM30S, which the manufacturer's own pages rate at plus/minus 0.05 mm. Protection moved from IP54 on the TM20 to IP65 here, so the arm can be washed down, and the control box was raised to IP54 for dustier and wetter rooms. The sixth axis turns at 450 degrees per second instead of 225, which Techman converts into a claimed 25 percent shorter cycle time. Safety covers up to 31 TUV-certified functions rated PL d, Cat 3 under ISO 13849-1 and compliant with the current ISO 10218-1, with SGS certification for UL and CSA in North America and a Declaration of Incorporation for Europe as partly completed machinery. Techman positions the arm for machine tending, material handling, case packing and heavy-part pick-and-place in logistics and automotive work. Vision is built into the wrist, as on every arm the company makes, and on the S series it is an AI stack - classification, object detection, semantic segmentation, anomaly detection - trained through the TM AI+ Training Server rather than configured by hand. Programming is TMflow 2, with a Script Node and Script Project for engineers who prefer compiled code and TMcraft for building custom operator interfaces. No list price is published; the arm is sold through distributors.
