ugo mini (G1)

ugo mini is the smallest robot ugo Inc. sells, and the one built for a single job: walking an inspection round and reading what it finds. It was shown as a concept on 30 November 2022 alongside the fourth-generation ugo models, offered in limited numbers during 2023, and became a regular product from 2024. The defining feature is the periscope. A telescopic pole raises the head from 62 cm to 1.86 m, carrying a single 4K camera on a gimbal, so the same machine can photograph a valve near the floor and a gauge on top of a cabinet without anyone lifting it. Stills are captured at 8 megapixels (4,096 x 2,160) and video streams at 1280 x 720. A ring light lets it work in dark plant rooms. Everything else is subordinated to size and quiet. The robot is 37 cm square and weighs about 16 kg, which is what makes it deployable in places larger robots cannot reach — security rooms, spaces behind doors that are awkward to open, hotels and care homes where noise matters. ugo built it around gearless direct-drive motors precisely for that quietness. It runs about eight hours on standby or three hours driving, recharges in about 1.5 hours, and moves between 0.4 and 3.6 km/h, clearing steps of roughly 1 cm and slopes of about 5 degrees. Navigation is handled by 3D LiDAR, offered as a separate option rather than fitted as standard. There is a face display, speaker and microphone for talking to people on site, a USB 3.0 Type-A port and an Ethernet connector; wireless LAN needs an adapter and 4G or 5G needs the customer's own mobile router and SIM. The robot is operated and managed through ugo Platform, the company's cloud console. In December 2024 ugo announced formal interworking with hakaru.ai byGMO, a meter-reading service, so that the images the mini brings back are converted into readings without a person retyping them.
