A 155-gram robot that hangs off a bag strap and does exactly one thing: turns its head to steal a shy glance at whoever is nearby. Pre-orders ship from October 2026.
mirumi is Yukai Engineering's smallest robot and the clearest statement yet of the company's method: pick one gesture, build the whole product around it, and add nothing else. It clings to a bag strap or the edge of a table with two soft arms and turns its head towards sound, towards a touch, or on its own — a shy sideways look at a stranger standing next to you. There is no face to read, no speech, no app and no camera.
Yukai showed it at CES 2025 and ran a Kickstarter campaign from 3 December 2025 to 21 January 2026. Pre-orders in the manufacturer's regional stores are priced at USD 149.99, with shipping stated for October 2026 — the design is final and on sale, but no customer unit has shipped yet, which is why this profile is not marked as in production.
The hardware is deliberately slight. The whole robot weighs about 155 grams and measures 100 by 110 by 140 millimetres with the arms counted in; the body is ABS, the arms TPU. A lithium-polymer cell charged over USB at 5 V and 1 A gives roughly eight hours of behaviour and refills in about two. Set against Yukai's own catalogue, mirumi is the logical end of the line that began with Qoobo in 2018: the tailed cushion removed the face to avoid the uncanny valley, and mirumi removes almost everything else, keeping only a turn of the head.
