Doosan sells two cobots for food work. The one you may hose down is the less precise one

Doosan Robotics answers the question of how to put a robot arm near food twice, and its own product pages show what each answer costs.
The Korean maker's E-SERIES exists for the food and beverage industry. Its single model, the E0509, carries 5 kg over a 900 mm reach, holds NSF certification for food hygiene and is rated IP66, with the gaps between its axes sealed. Doosan's selling point is what that removes: hygiene control without extra equipment such as robot jackets — the washable covers normally wrapped around an industrial arm working near food, which cost money, hide the joints and get in the way of cleaning.
The same catalogue also lists the A0509F, the food-and-beverage build of the lightweight A-SERIES. It has the same 5 kg payload, the same 900 mm reach and the same NSF certification.
The difference is in the third number. The A0509F repeats to 0.03 mm. The sealed E0509 repeats to 0.05 mm. Two hundredths of a millimetre is what closing the joints costs, and Doosan publishes no IP figure at all on the A0509F page.
That is not a defect, it is a choice presented to the buyer, and an unusually honest one. A plant that cleans by wiping can have the more accurate arm. A kitchen that cleans with a hose has to give up precision to get a machine that survives the water. What the marketing does not say — and what only appears when the two cards are read side by side — is that hygiene ratings and accuracy pull against each other, and the robot advertised as the food specialist is the coarser of the two.
The E-SERIES was announced on 17 April 2023, part of a launch of thirteen cobots across five families, and shipped from June that year. Doosan's own listed uses are consumer-facing rather than industrial: loading a fryer and cooking chicken at 170 degrees, pouring hand-drip coffee at three cups in fifteen seconds, cooking noodles at constant quality.
Both robots now have profiles in this catalogue. Neither figure for arm mass, joint speed or list price appears on the manufacturer's pages, so those fields stay empty here rather than being filled from distributor listings.
