In ugo's robot line-up, the arms are not a luxury option. They decide how many floors the robot can reach

The Tokyo company ugo Inc. sells three patrol and inspection robots that share a platform, a cloud console and a top speed of 3.6 km/h. Reading the three specification sheets side by side shows that the difference between them is not comfort or finish. It is whether the machine can use a building the way a person does. ugo Pro (G4) carries two arms on a powered lifting mast. That is what lets it call a lift, press the button for a floor and hold a security card against a reader — and it is the reason a single Pro can patrol a whole building rather than one storey of it. The robot stands 1,800 mm tall on a 440 x 580 mm base, weighs about 58 kg, carries three HD cameras and runs roughly four hours of continuous driving at its default 1.9 km/h, recharging in about two and a half. ugo Ex (G4) is the same height and the same platform with the arms taken off. It narrows to 375 mm, drops to about 45 kg and swaps the arm assembly for a bare aluminium mounting pole that the customer drills and populates: ugo publishes the frame dimensions, the mounting area and the formula for recalculating the centre of gravity, and supplies two 900 mm edge cushions for whatever gets bolted on. Two USB Type-C ports deliver 100 W each for the added hardware. The trade is straightforward — no arms, no lift buttons, one floor. ugo mini (G1) takes the reduction further. At 370 x 370 mm and about 16 kg it is small enough for security rooms and quiet enough, thanks to gearless direct-drive motors, for hotels and care homes. Instead of arms it has a periscope: a telescopic pole that lifts a gimballed 4K camera from 62 cm to 1.86 m, so a valve at floor level and a gauge on top of a cabinet are both within reach of the same machine. It runs about three hours driving, recharges in an hour and a half, and its 3D LiDAR is an option rather than standard equipment. One caveat worth recording. Figures circulating in secondary listings give ugo Pro a weight of 54 kg and a top speed of 5 km/h. The manufacturer's own current support documentation states 58 kg and 3.6 km/h, and that is what our profiles use. Profiles for all three models are now in the catalogue.
