Xiaomi shows its humanoid in public for the first time — and says in the same breath it will not be a product

Xiaomi's robot will make its first public appearance at the World Robot Conference in Beijing, which runs from 19 to 23 August 2026. The announcement came not from a product launch but from the company's quarterly earnings call on 18 August, where president Lu Weibing said Xiaomi does not plan to develop the robot as a standalone product. The work is to be folded into the company's "human, car and home" ecosystem instead — smart factories, mobility and household applications. That sentence is the news. A public showing normally starts a sales countdown; here the maker closed that door before anyone could ask about a price. It also sets the frame for whatever is wheeled onto the stand this week: a demonstration of an internal automation programme, not a machine you will be able to buy. The last humanoid Xiaomi put in front of cameras was CyberOne in August 2022 — 177 cm, 52 kg, walking at 3.6 km/h, with roughly 1.5 kg of grip per hand. It never became a product either, and from 2024 it was repurposed into automation work inside Xiaomi's own plants. Four years on, the company has still published no spec sheet, no mass, no runtime and no price for its successor. What we are not writing: how tall this robot is, what it weighs or how well it performs on an assembly line. Those numbers are circulating in reports of the same call, but Xiaomi has not put them in a document of its own. Until it does, our profile of the company's humanoid work stays with the 2022 machine and its verified figures. We will open a separate profile for the new robot the day Xiaomi publishes its data — the catalogue keeps old versions and gives every new one its own entry.
