Wheel-legged quadruped rated IP67, with a 25 kg payload, 29 km of range and a switchable wheel or point-foot gait.
D1 Max is the fast, long-legged member of AgiBot's Kuotuo quadruped line, launched on 23 March 2026. Its defining trick is that it can change what kind of machine it is: the legs end in wheels, and the robot switches between rolling — smooth, efficient, good for range — and walking on point feet, which gets it across ground no wheel would survive. The numbers behind that are unusually strong for a 41 kg machine. It carries 25 kg of rated payload, climbs slopes of up to 45 degrees, takes continuous stairs of 25 cm, clears obstacles up to 80 cm unloaded and 50 cm with a load, and drops to a 34 cm crawl height to get under things. Two hot-swappable 504.9 Wh batteries give 5 hours of running time empty and 3.5 hours loaded, or 29 km and 18 km of range respectively, and recharge in under 90 minutes. Sensing is built for the dark and the outdoors. Front and rear 96-line lidars cover a full 360 by 90 degrees out to 120 m, two industrial 8-megapixel FPV cameras with a 122-degree diagonal field of view sit at each end with four fill lights, and an automotive-grade IMU, GNSS RTK and side-facing ultrasonic sensors fill in the rest. Compute is an NVIDIA Orin NX 16 GB rated at 100 to 157 TOPS. The chassis is rated IP67 and specified from minus 20 to plus 55 degrees Celsius. One thing is worth flagging for readers comparing sources. The launch coverage in March 2026 quoted a 30 kg payload, 30 km of range and a top speed of 8 m/s, and called D1 Max the fastest quadruped in the world. The manufacturer's own current specification card is more conservative: 25 kg rated payload, 29 plus or minus 1 km of range and 6 m/s maximum speed. We have used the specification card, and note that the card itself carries a footnote saying the figures come from laboratory testing and may differ in real use. The robot is aimed at security patrols, inspection, emergency response, firefighting and logistics. It ships with a screen-equipped remote, an adapter and a charging cradle; an autonomous charging pile is an option. Developers get an SDK, a 3D model and a URDF file for simulation, plus gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, RS232, RS485, SBUS and PPS ports and switchable 5, 12, 24 and 48 V power rails delivering up to 480 W to whatever is bolted on top.
