Apollo's second generation, launched by a website edit: two bodies, one platform, and almost no numbers.
Apptronik introduced Apollo 2 in June 2026 without a launch event or press release — the robot simply appeared in an updated product section of the company's website, noticed on 28 June. The most consequential change is that Apollo is no longer only a biped: Apollo 2 is offered either as a walking humanoid, for stairs and tight spaces, or on a wheeled base intended to fit the safety standards already written for industrial mobile robots. The same upper body serves both. Apptronik describes Apollo 2 as one layer of a three-part system: the robot itself, a control and safety layer called Artemis, and Fleet Connect for orchestrating multiple units. Disclosed hardware details are limited to patented actuators the company rates above 90% energy efficiency, a swappable battery architecture with opportunity charging and tethered operation for continuous shifts, and safety behaviour built on configurable perimeter zones plus an impact zone that halts motion when a person or object comes close. The company frames the machine as a blank canvas for foundation models, emphasising perception, reasoning and torque control. What Apptronik has not published is equally notable: no height, weight, payload, runtime, degrees of freedom, price or delivery schedule, and no comparison with the first Apollo. Figures circulating in robot databases (about 1.73 m, 72.6 kg, 25 kg payload, four hours of operation) describe Apollo 1 and should not be attributed to this generation. Apptronik has said that the fully commercial product will be Apollo 3, so Apollo 2 remains a pilot and data-collection platform. The Apollo 1 profile stays in the catalogue unchanged.
