DEEP Robotics DR01
DEEP Robotics · China · 2024
The quadruped maker's first humanoid: a walking research platform that put DEEP Robotics' own J60 and J100 joints on two legs.
The DR01 is the humanoid DEEP Robotics built before the industrial DR02, and the company describes it as an 'embodied intelligence explorer' — a platform for AI training and locomotion research rather than a product for a shift on a factory floor. It walks at over 1.6 m/s, steps over 18 cm obstacles and handles 25-degree slopes, moving across uneven and discrete terrain and recovering its balance quickly, which is the skill set the company had already proven in its X-series quadrupeds. The legs use DEEP Robotics' own actuators: lightweight J60 joints and high-torque J100 joints, both sold separately to other builders. Perception is fused from several environmental sensors, and the maker emphasises autonomous learning through AI training rather than a fixed repertoire of motions. DEEP Robotics does not publish the height, weight, joint count, battery or runtime for the DR01; the figures that appear in third-party databases — commonly 1.7 m and 80 kg — are not confirmed by the manufacturer. The DR02 that followed in October 2025 is the version built for actual industrial duty.
